It is Sisterhood-Love for the sake of Allâh that binds us…
“…And lower your wing for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers)” (Al-Hijr 15:88),
The Hampton Roads Sisters’ Community has existed long before the Islamic Center at ODU opened its doors in 1993. We are the mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, wives, business women, professionals and students that help to shape this community. We are a true representation of the American “melting pot”. We are sisters from many nations and backgrounds but united by our islam. We have come together in times of need and happiness to support our sisters in Islam for the sake of Allah, the Almighty.
Hampton Roads is a thriving and growing community that has attracted many students and military families. Sadly because of this, many great sisters have left us but also because of this, and the mercy of Allah, many great sisters have joined this community and have helped shape it into what you see today. The Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam, said:
“Believers are like a structure, parts of which support other parts.” –Bukhari and Muslim
May Allah bless our families and our community, forgive us for our shortcomings and join us together in Jennah. Ameen.
“The Muslims in their mutual love, kindness and compassion are like the human body where when one of its parts is in agony the entire body feels pain, both in sleeplessness and fever.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
